Looper pedal for guitar. One of my favorite pieces of music equipment is my looper! I use a Loop station RC1, which you can find on Amazon for about $90.

Since what I use it for mostly is figuring out interesting lines, the fact that it only stores one loop at a time is a non-issue. It’s very easy to use – it has simple loop length indicator which is a “count down” ring of LEDs. Basically, tap once to record, another to overdub and another to playback what you’ve recorded. To stop playback, you press the pedal twice, and to clear what you’ve recorded, you hold the pedal for two seconds or more. You have 12 minutes of stereo recording, which is way more than I ever need, generally looping over about a minute or so. You just keep an eye on the loop indicator so you know when the end is coming, if you want to bail on the loop.

The “loop indicator” is a ring of LED lights on the face of the pedal that let you know where you are in your loop and what mode you’re in. Red lights only mean you’re recording, red and green means overdubbing over the loop and green means playback. Once the length of your phrase is set with the second tap, the indicator shows you how long is left in your loop and when you’re close to the beginning again. It’s easy to read, fairly intuitive and with a little practice, simple to start and stop in time.

It doesn’t come with a power supply. One 9 volt alkaline battery gives you four and a half hours of use, according to Boss so I highly recommend getting a power plug.
