Hey, Soul Sister” is a song by American rock band Train. It was written by lead singer Pat Monahan, Amund Bjørklund, and Espen Lind. It was released as the lead single from the band’s fifth studio album, Save Me, San Francisco (2009).

The song reached number three on the Billboard Hot 100 chart and is Train’s highest-charting song to date. It was the top-selling song on the iTunes Store in 2010, and the second overall best-selling song in the US in 2010. It is also the band’s most commercially successful single to date, reaching number one in 16 countries. The single received a 11× platinum certification by the Recording Industry Association of America (RIAA) on October 5, 2022, signifying sales of over eleven million copies. It was also certified 15× Platinum in Australia and Diamond in Canada. The live iTunes version of “Hey, Soul Sister” garnered a Grammy Award for Best Pop Performance by a Duo or Group with Vocals at the 53rd Annual Grammy Awards. The song was not eligible for any Grammy Award in the General Field.

Resources for ukulele players- where to find songs

There are lots of great resources online for songs you can play on ukulele! I’ve put a few links below.

Typically they fall into a couple of categories. There are paid sites that you can subscribe to, and generally they will have (in some cases quite a lot of) free video too, with in-video chord and fingering charts. Look at the free videos and that will tell you what the standard of paid video will be like.

Some sites will offer a great variety of music lyric sheets with the chords displayed above the lyrics. Lots of these sites are free, so if you don’t mind looking up your own chord fingerings, they are a great way to move forward without the expense of a subscription. There are also “fremium” sites that have characteristics of both previously mentioned. You can access and download the music, perhaps as a text file, but if you want to say, change keys, add songs to a “favorite” list, share your songs with a bandmate, they may charge you for that additional service.

If a student of mine can’t make a previously-scheduled online lesson for some reason, I generally substitute a custom video lesson for the material that we would have covered in our session and post it to youtube. Besides being useful for my student, other guitar players might get some value from it too, right? But then I thought “what if I just make the video for someone who’s interested in learning the song?” So here we are. If you want to play a song, I’ll make a video to help you with that!

How to play lets stay together. “Let’s Stay Together” is a song by American singer Al Green from his 1972 album of the same name. It was produced and recorded by Willie Mitchell, and mixed by Mitchell and Terry Manning. Released as a single in 1971, “Let’s Stay Together” reached number 1 on the Billboard Hot 100, and remained on the chart for 16 weeks and also topped Billboard’s R&B chart for nine weeks. “La Grange” is a song by the American rock group ZZ Top, from their 1973 album Tres Hombres. One of ZZ Top’s most successful songs, it was released as a single in January 1974 and received extensive radio play, rising to No. 41 on the Billboard Hot 100 in June 1974. The song’s title and lyrics refer to a brothel on the outskirts of La Grange, Fayette County, Texas (later called the “Chicken Ranch“). The brothel is also the subject of the Broadway play and film The Best Little Whorehouse in Texas.

The first time ZZ Top played the song in La Grange was during the Fayette County Fair, on September 5, 2015. In March 2020 the song re-entered the Billboard charts following the release of the documentary ZZ Top: That Little Ol’ Band from Texas.

How to play the way you look tonight. This was very early on for Art and myself and one of the first trio gigs we had! Of course, something had to go wrong… Patrick Kersson’s car broke down on the way to Whiting so he couldn’t make it! So we quickly figured out which songs in the set we could do as a duo and frankly, we didn’t do too bad a job of it. There are real advantages to playing with a solid pro like Art Baguer!

How to play love and marriage

Play “love and marriage” on guitar. “Love and Marriage” was introduced by Frank Sinatra in the 1955 television production of Thornton Wilder’s Our Town, which aired on Producers’ Showcase. Sinatra went on to record two versions of the song. The first was recorded for Capitol Records on August 15, 1955 and became a major chart hit. (A competing version by Dinah Shore also achieved popularity.) This first recording appeared on the 1956 album This Is Sinatra! The second version was recorded for the Reprise Records album A Man and His Music on October 11, 1965. The Capitol version was later used as the theme song for the 1987–1997 Fox TV sitcom Married… with Children.
