Here are three ways to play a D chord. It’s important to remember that for a major chord (triad, three notes) we need the 1, 3 and 5 of the scale. The D scale is D, E, F#, G, A, B, C# and D. Looking at the scale numerically, D is 1, F# is 3 and A is 5, so we spell D major with D, F# and A. Hey! Ech one of those notes- the one, three and five notes- is a whole step above the 1,3 andf 5 notes in C! What sort of hippie magic is this??!!?
