If you’re interested in finding other musicians to play with, here are some ideas. Making music is good for  you AND great fun!  Even more so when you’re doing it with other folks. Here are some ideas about finding people to play with, most of which came from the stringkick website linked below:

https://www.stringkick.com/blog-lessons/find-musicians/ Below are a few of the key references from the article.

  • Put up a notice at your local music store. Be clear about what you’re looking for (drummer, bass player…) and name a few music genres or bands you like.
  • Rehearsal spaces often have a wall plastered with musicians wanted ads of bands looking to find band members. Find a local practice space and see what’s on offer.
  • Lessons at a community college! A music production course, music history or group guitar lessons are a great way to get to know people who share your interests and are working on the same things you are. I joined a jazz group at my local community college a while back; made some friends and met some wonderful musicians, a few of whom I ended up working with.
  • Open mikes. You don’t even have to play, just  start to build your network of live music enthusiasts. You might run into a future band mate or meet someone with common musical goals and interests.
  • Ask your teacher! They might have another student who lives near you or know someone else who would make a good jam buddy for you.
  • Facebook. Everybody who post on FB has friends, any of whom might be a good fit for you. You can also look for local musician groups and see if anyone’s interested there.
  • Craigslist. Lots of people find band members or friends to jam with through it. It might be worth your time (I’ve had some success with this myself).
  • Bandmix is a large network of online musician classifieds with dedicated sites for the US, Canada, the United Kingdom, Australia, Ireland. I’ve met a lot of great folks through that website! https://bandmix.com/guitarcat.
  • Meetup.com helps you find like-minded individuals in your area. ‘Meetups’ are organized for people interested in topics such as guitar, songwriting, and musicians.

Thinking of going pro? here are some ideas about that
